A few Questions
I came back to GW a few weeks ago after an absence of almost a year. My wife thinks chasing HoM fame is foolish as she never plans to leave GW for GW2. She likes to create new characters, then when the content to advance them gets to hard (usually around lvl 18). She buys another character slot and starts a new character.
I have been trying to push a few characters along in the story line to finish Prophecies so they can do the War in Kyrta. Finding runners seems almost impossible as there are easier ways for experienced players to make cash than as a runner. I have been pondering game dynamics comparing before I left to now, wondering what it might be like in the future after a specific date for GW2 is announced, then maybe for the first year of GW2 and GW together. What do you need to get done between now and a specific GW2 Go-Live date? - Get campaign tours completed for your characters - Focus on NM Protector Titles as Zaishen Missions provide the longer term ongoing opportunity to complete HM Guardian titles - Complete the special HoM Missions, Underworld, Sorrows Furnace, etc - Maximize completing EoTN Speedbooks What happens with a specific GW2 Go Live date? - Maybe additional players return to game increasing the demand for stuff driving up prices - Possible influx of undedicated pets from returning players might drop unded prices of white pets. What happens after GW2 Go Live? - Fewer players in GW. Similar to Pre Searing today. People go to presearing to work on LDOA (completing the daily quest) then return to post. I see players connecting to GW to accomplish a specific task, then returning to GW2 when the task is complete. - I will get my wife a GW2 account, if only so I can get its future bday presents. I am thinking that players will need to find an alliance with a presence in both GW and GW2. Excluding the players who have played hard for 5 years and have a goal of 50/50 fame points. What are your near term plans of what you want to get done before GW2? Thanks. |

Well, I've already achieved the 30/50 mark, so I'm casually making my way to get GWAMM. 50/50 is a long term mark post-GW2.
You could hire a runner in the forums or shove 5/7 heroes into your party and just run by yourself. |

Are GW2 and GW going to be connected somehow, in a way that lets one account play both games? Might be a strange question but I was having trouble understanding some things the OP said unless the OP is implying that one can use a single character to accomplish tasks both in GW2 and GW.

The only connection between the two games is your Hall of Monuments. The first 30 points in your GW1 HoM give you visible items in GW2 (armor, weapons, pets, minipets, titles).

It's very likely NCSoft will make us link a GW and a GW2 account to the same NCSoft account in order to do the HoM and names transfer.

Running is probably a bad idea for finishing Prophecies for the first time. If your characters are around level 18, you want to go to the Crystal Desert to do the attribute-point quest and Ascend, followed by the attribute-point quest in Droknar's Forge. Getting to the Crystal Desert doesn't require a run. A level-18 character should be able to get from LA to Sanctum Cay without much trouble, gathering some XP along the way.
You do not want to tackle WiK until you're level 20 with all attribute points, and you do want some gameplay experience under your belt, which is not something you get from being run. The WiK foes are much, much tougher than anything you've seen or will see anywhere during Prophecies, using skills from all the campaigns. They come in well-balanced groups with great support and some hard-hitting builds on the damage dealers. If your goal is to eventually get the protector titles, you would actually be far better off not to take any shortcuts at all, IMHO. WiK isn't going anywhere. Finish all of Prophecies the normal way. You might even consider finishing all of the campaigns and EotN before taking on WiK. EotN is also much tougher than any of the campaigns, and will provide good experience for WiK. |

Oh, and a bit more experimenting with 7-hero teams. Last edited by Quaker; Apr 23, 2011 at 01:45 PM // 13:45.. |
